MAGNIFICENT FLARE on 7th June, 2011

STORM WARNING: The forecasters have downgraded the chances of a geomagnetic storm on June 9th to 20%. The disturbance, if it occurs, would be in response to a glancing blow from the Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) of June 7th. High-latitude sky watchers should remain alert for auroras. Above all, there are small chances that the radio satellites in orbit will be effected.. I suggest all people around the world to take care while doing outdoor activities.. Wear suitable clothes and sunglasses..Anyway, there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

Clear amazing auroras skies ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. How cool is that! And what a pleasing coincidence! I read a very brief reference to geomagnetic storms and this event on my mobile this morning. I had intended to look into it further when I got back to my laptop but you have kindly posted this blog and saved me looking any further thanks! Clear magnetic skies for Icewolf tonight then!

Did a blog about the Great Solar Storm of 1849 back in 2009…fascinating subject. Unfortunately it seemes to hae suffered at the wordy hands of the msn/Wordpress change-over which has done some very strange things to the layout and font!
