Age of Moon: Waxing Crescent : ~ 0.32 days old. = 7.68 hrs old

Set Time difference : approx 13 minutes

The New Moon crescent’s first light will be in conjunction with the Sun on April 1st @ 10:33 UTC+4, and based on the astronomical calculations, the Crescent (Hilal) would not be possible to observe with naked eyes or with only optical aid on this day, because of the Set Time difference and age of the Crescent which is very young.

Based on the Astronomical data report, the Sunsets at 6:22 Pm UTC+4@ (270°W), and 6:35 pm @ (270° W) for the Moon which makes out around 13minuets for the sighting before it sets below the true Horizon.

From this report, it is not possible to sight the crescent “Hilal” even with the help of optical Aid (Telescope). Yet might be possible yet challenging through a CCD camera. The chances increase as we move towards the southwest of the globe and or sighting at a higher altitude. However, it all depends on weather conditions at that place and time. Yet because of the Moon age and set time, it will not be possible to sight by naked eyes including with Optical aid. Shaaban will most probably continue its 30 days. InShaAllah (If God wills), this is what I highly presume will happen according to the past reports and practical sightings.

The New Moon crescent’s first light will be in conjunction with the Sun on May 1st @ 00:37UTC+4, and based on the astronomical calculations, the Crescent (Hilal) would be possible yet difficult through naked eyes and highly possible through Optical Aid support across the country on this day. Factors such as site location & Atmospheric conditions will determine the conclusion.

Based on the Astronomical data report, the Sun sets at 6:34 Pm UTC+4 @ (283°W), and 7:10 pm @ (282° W) for the Moon which makes out around 36 minutes for the sighting before it sets below the true Horizon.

Just as festivity becomes the atmosphere when the fast is broken each day at sunset, happiness becomes doublefold when the month of fasting is finally completed and the Eid Al-Fitr is celebrated.

The most elaborate dishes are served at large banquets to which relatives and friends are invited. These  colorful celebrations are the climax of the sense of fulfillment characterizing,a month of fasting and hardships, increasing the bonds of connectedness among humankind and between humankind and God.

Yesterday we could not sight the new Moon Crescent because it was impossible. As you see in the picture below, the Sun and Moon almost sets at the same time and the elevation is only 5 degrees.

May Allah accepts our fasting, prayers and bless us all. Ameen.
